The design of the Weave Chair was conceived when thinking about the unique characteristics of corrugated cardboard, and new ways they could be interpreted. As a result, we began experimenting with various weaving techniques and yarns to create unique surfaces and textures. The yarn (which is both a visual element and a cushion) becomes integral to the chair design, using the corrugations as the weaving structure. This technique provides a new finishing system that is not applied to the surface, but rather is the genesis of the design. The Weave Chair demonstrates our interest in researching a material and finding new ways of pushing its design potential.
